3 Sticker Labeling mistakes that you should avoid

It’s no secret that a well-made sticker label can help promote your business. After all, we do judge a product by its appearance. So it is essential to invest in high-quality paper or vinyl labels.

But how do you design a successful product label? Or, even more important, which classic labeling mistakes should you avoid?

We will tell you just that. In this article, you will find three of the most commonly made labeling mistakes and how you can avoid them to ensure your custom product labels are a real eye-catcher – for all the right reasons.

  1. Overstuffing your labels

When it comes to product labels, less is definitely more. It can be incredibly tempting to fill every single inch of your labels with information. You do not want to pay for space only to waste it, right?

We get that. But you also want your product labels to be perceived well and actually sell your product. If you overload your vinyl or paper labels with text and graphics, you’ll just make them look cluttered and confusing.

Customers want to be able to quickly scan your labels and get the information they need. So keep your design elegant and simple and focus on using clear, concise graphics.

  1. Including too much text

As we mentioned before, customers don’t want to have to wade through a lot of text to find the information they require. So keep your labels short and sweet. Use bullet points or short phrases to get your message across.

This is also a matter of legibility. There is actually a so-called minimum height requirement for letters. This means that each letter has to be a certain height for it to print legibly. Depending on the font that you are using, a size of 8pt should be ideal.

And if you need to include more detailed information, consider using a QR code that customers can scan for additional information.

  1. Choosing the wrong material

There are a variety of sticker materials to choose from, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. If you’re not sure which material is right for your project, ask a professional label printer for help.

But there are some pointers we can give you. The most important question you need to ask yourself is how and where your products are going to be used.

Will they be exposed to the elements? Used around water? Then a vinyl label is just what you need. They are water- and scratch-proof and will keep your product looking great.

Avoid these common mistakes and create and order custom stickers that are effective and successful. Do you have any questions? Or maybe you can think of even more labeling mistakes to avoid? Then share your knowledge with  and order custom stickersus in the comments.
