Responsive Design In Parallel With Applications Can Make Accessibility Through Mobiles Cost-effective

If your website is intended for user interaction, developing an application with responsive design is worth an investment that’s not merely convenient to use, saves time but cost-effective as well.

Lately, a big change came along in web design industry, responsive design has been invented. It’s a term used to describe website design that adjusts itself to varied screen resolutions ‘responsively’. With responsive design, websites will not face formatting issues because of varied screen sizes, rather they will adapt themselves by expanding and contracting to fit different screen resolutions.

The best part is, designing sites to be responsive do not add a lot of complexity to a project. However, it requires a thoughtful process on part of designers and developers. Once you know how to build a website responsively, it does not proves to be time consuming.

But, building a website with responsive design is not a replacement for a mobile application. Depending on your business, you may find that you actually need a mobile application rather than a website that can adjust itself to plethora of internet-enabled devices. There might be a lot of functionality on your website that you want to be simplified and altered significantly on the mobile. There are lot of companies which don’t get benefited from the shrunken model of their website but from a true mobile application. Some examples may be restaurants, movie theaters, etc.

The other factor to consider too is, developing a responsive web design with mobile application can make mobile presence cost-effective. If you put mobile applications and website on equal footing, technically, cost-benefit will favor having accessibility on mobile.

One application will work for all

Doing a mobile application means developing separate applications for iPhone, Android and Blackberry, and this cannot be avoided as all these are equally popular platforms of smart phones. Keeping the code up-to-date for all these platforms is not easy which makes fragmentation a costly long-term investment. While, with responsive web design, you only have to create one version which can re-use code to align itself across browsers of different platforms.

Thus, when compared the cost of building different applications for different platforms, the cost of creating one web based application that acts ‘responsively’ comes to be negligible. Moreover, creating different applications for different platforms can consume lots of time.

Upgrading would be easier

In case, I want to optimize or upgrade any feature on the application, it’s not feasible to make changes respective to every device. By making the application responsive and taking the advantages of server side solutions, optimization and upgrading can be done with ease, making whole process quite convenient and cost-efficient.

Testing won’t cost much

Testing application for different devices and platforms can prove to be challenging and arduous. The application needs to be tested along respective devices, however, by developing responsive mobile application, you can check it for resolutions while sitting on one PC without spending money on different hardware and simulators.

Responsive Design is an amazingly simple technique that can please visitors on your site. If your website involves a lot of user respective functionality, which involves sending notifications then it’s better to design a specific mobile applications than creating different websites.
