Microsoft is finally starting to design beautiful things, but nobody cares

Yes. Microsoft has a history of making really crummy, ugly products, too numerous to list. But why aren’t they congratulated for their successes (or at least, their steps in the right direction)? Consider the Zune. People made fun of it for being brown. But people clearly like brown because it was the Zune’s best-selling colour, even after more fashionable, fruitier shades were introduced.
