I think that by now everyone knows what flat design is all about, thanks to Google, Microsoft and Apple’s redesigned UI’s. Even if it’s a huge leap from the previous type of design, I personally believe that flatness in design, even if it is industrial design, web design or graphic design can be seen as a returning to the first days of designing and creating things that we use because by definition, flat means showing and using only what you need and leaving behind all the unnecessary details.

Many people love flat design mostly because it is derived from minimalism which was started as a way of living. Its simplicity makes its user’s life more beautiful, and that’s why things like user interfaces which are designed to be minimalist or flat are apparently more comfortable to watch and to use.
