Incredible Images Of How Empire State Building Was Build

Empire State Building has now become a symbol of New York,and  is among the highest skyscraper in the world. Designed by the firm Shreve, Lamb & Harmon Associates, Empire State Building is built in Art Deco style, with a silhouette-shaped steps. The 102-story building was considered more than four decades as “the tallest building in the world”, measuring 381 m (449 m complete with antenna).

Empire State Building is, according to American Society of Civil Engineers, one of the seven wonders of the modern world, being one of the destinations searched by the tourists visiting New York. Every year since 1978, has held a competition to climb the stairs in the Empire State Building. Currently, male record is 10 minutes and 15 seconds, while the female is 11 minutes and 32 seconds.

Most of the workers who participated in the building were European immigrants. They joined the hundreds of local blacksmiths or coming from Montreal suburbs.

Building weighs 365,000 tons, of which 60,000 represent only the metal structure. Workers reported that the the project was so well organized that the cast iron beams and columns and brought from 525 miles away, just from a foundry in Pittsburgh, were warm to the touch when they arrived.
