Freepik: The Free Graphic Resources Finder

As a designer, you”ll constantly find yourself searching for vectors, .psd files or any other things that can help you achieve your goals. We all know what a hassle is to search of the perfect file on the whole web, so what could be more awesome than a dedicated search engine that will help you find the needle in the hay stack. Well, Freepik.com comes to the rescue.

Freepik consists in a search engine that lets you to find any free graphic resources for designers, such as photos, PSD or vectors. The first feature that drew my attention was the fact that, for using it, you must register, so as to have your own account. In this way, data such as your preferences, your history of searches and your favorite files will be saved -which will prove being quite helpful if you must work frequently with such files and, especially, if your work deals usually with same topics

.

Another characteristic of the site that you may find pretty valuable is the way of searching. What I mean is that Freepik doesn’t just give all the results randomly, apart from visiting hundreds of websites to fulfill your request, Freepik reads the contents and analyzes them in order to determine their value and relevance, according to your needs. Once you have found the desired file, it redirects you to the host site, simplifying the process, as you just take it from the source (respecting in this way both the host and the author’s rights over the files).

It has been obviously created by web designers, as it seems to adapt to the very needs that we have on a daily basis in such work (to find quality contents that are useful, adapted to your needs and for free). Furthermore, the site allows you to interact with the community for improving the contents (suggesting new contents or rating existent ones, for instance).

To conclude, I strongly recommend, specially to professional or regular web and graphic designers, to give it a try and to get acquainted with the utilities of the user’s account. Its database it pretty big, with more than 1.3 million files, so if you don’t find here what are you looking for, then probably it doesn’t exists.
