Are Online Courses The Future of Teaching?

I think they are. We live in a society where anything must be done fast and correct so when you need or want to learn something, the best way to do it is using online resources. I bet that you always use Google when you are learning something, so why not using a dedicated website?

There are many online learning classes suited for many type of courses, but one of them that captured my attention in the past week is VFX Learning.

Why you my ask? Well, the main reason this website caught my attention is because I always wanted to learn how to create visual effects, especially Maya Dynamics but I have never found a good and complete place packed with online courses. When I discovered VFX Learning I was stunned by what this online school is offering.

They offer Remote Supervision, Demo Reel and personal review services and the courses are delivered by professionals actively working in the Visual Effects industry. This means that you will be in direct access to top artists who provide them with live one on one reviews, group reviews and training sessions. Another stunning feature is that they also offer master classes, which are designed to let students unleash their full potential. Mentors create a film inspired effects shot, they break it down into it’s elements and design training around this. Students build the shot piece by piece, adding more detail each week until they have a completed shot, ready for their demo reel. They provide the same live one on one and group reviews as our other courses but with a more production level focus. These are intense courses and the feel is even closer to that of a production environment, this allows students to tackle a wide range of simulations and receive critiques in a more authentic way. A course lasts for 12 weeks, with weekly one-on-one review sessions.

The interfaces are very intuitive and packed with everything you need. For example, below you can see a screen capture from Sidefx Houdini.

All the courses have two levels and a master class, so the curricula is very well structured. For example, Nuke Digital Compositing has 18 topics for every level and 12 topics for the master class.

In conclusion, if you want to learn how to create stunning visual effects from the comfort of you office, then you should definitely try VFX Learning Online School of Visual Effects.
